Taste & Alobosa Bar in downtown Lansing will be closing its doors later this July. But Lansing isn’t about to lose its African flavors. Owner Taiwo Adeleye is working on a new quick service concept, Handie: African Infused Wraps and All, in East Lansing and hopes to open some time in August. As Lansing’s only Nigerian eatery, Taste has had a successful run for the past three years. The business announced on Facebook its permanent closure: “This journey has been an emotional, joyful, and personal development experience marked by persistence and dedication. Though this is a bittersweet goodbye, we cherish the memories and connections we made in this wonderful community.”
The new restaurant will open at 515 E Grand River Ave, Suite G this August. Based on the menu shared on the new website, Handie will feature wraps, pies, and burgers inspired by authentic African cuisine. The restaurant will adopt a quick service model and mainly caters to students and facultys at the Michigan State University.
“This time, the model is to put everything in wraps and sandwiches,” Adeleye told Lansing State Journal. “We’ll be getting more creative. We have the students. That’s why we decided on the model with wraps, coffee and juice.”
