A beloved coffee shop in Holland closed its doors in late February. Fortunately, the community won’t be out of coffee for too long, as a new coffee shop has plans to take over the vacant space. Foxtail Coffee Co, a Florida-based franchise, will take over the former Ferris Coffee space in downtown Holland at 57 E 8th St. This news was first seen in Holland Sentinel.

The Holland Foxtail Coffee is operated by Ada-based Baton Collective, an affiliate of the Grand Rapids-based RDV Corporation.

The downtown Holland Foxtail Coffee Co. is expected later in 2024. The space’s large glass windows allow plenty of natural light to enter, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The space also features “inviting rustic décor, comfortable seating arrangements, and a full craft coffee menu,” according to the press release.

“Both Ferris and the previous coffee shop, JPs, were well-received in downtown Holland. It’s a great location that attracts Holland residents, college students, and Lakeshore visitors,” Loren Crandell, CEO of Baton Collective, told What Now Detroit in an email. “We’re looking forward to opening later this year and can’t wait for Holland coffee lovers to experience everything that Foxtail has to offer.”

Based in Florida, Foxtail Coffee believes coffee should be “purposeful, celebrated, and enjoyed.” The chain currently has locations in Florida, Georgia, and Nevada. The Holland location will be one of the brand’s first presences in Michigan.

“Foxtail Coffee offers unique neighborhood spaces that set it apart from others in the market,” said Alex Tchekmeian, founder of Foxtail Coffee, in the press release. “It bridges the gap between a quick-service offering and an independent coffee shop. We’re looking forward to the Holland community grabbing a cup of coffee, finding a place to land, and staying for a while.”

Baton Collective is also working on a second Foxtail Coffee location in its home base: Ada.
