Cups n’ Chai, a modern chai cafe, will occupy a 1,600-square-foot retail space at 210 S 4th Ave, next to Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. The space features expansive storefront windows, a high ceiling, and an open floor plan.

Founded by father-and-son duo Noman and Bilal Husain, Cups n’ Chai opened its flagship Canton cafe at 43339 Joy Rd last year. The South Asian chai cafe serves various hot chai, including Karak, Amore, and Masala chai, alongside cold beverages and street food. The cafe is dedicated to authenticity, paying homage to South Asian chai and street food traditions with authentic, high-quality ingredients and techniques.

Cups n’ Chai is more than a simple cafe. Noman Husain, who’s also co-founder of IndustryX and president of TRANSFORMability, is a coach, a leader, and an educator at his core. Therefore, it is no surprise that Cups N Chai considers itself a vital local community member and puts people at the center of its operations.

“We work to create an inclusive atmosphere where everyone, no matter their background or differences, feels welcomed, respected, and valued… We are dedicated to creating a welcoming Asian cafe in Canton, Michigan, where customers, staff, and the local community can gather, share experiences, and connect over a shared love of chai and food,” states the cafe’s website.

What Now Detroit reached out to the owners but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
