The first of the batch, located in Warren at 2411 Eight Mile Road, reopened earlier in August, Detroit Free Press reported.

Union Burgers LLC CEO John Pastor told What Now Detroit that the next locations – in Detroit, Ferndale and Southfield – will be soon to follow. They have also added a Walled Lake location to the lineup since their original announcement of five reopenings.

“We’re finishing up on the Walled Lake store, getting close to signing on the dotted line,” Pastor said.

Union Burgers LLC is based in Livonia. The group has already operated five Burger King restaurants in metro Detroit and the surrounding areas, so these acquisitions bring their total amount to 11. Pastor said renovations on the stores include repainting, redoing the kitchens, fixing up the equipment and repairing potholes in the parking lots to give customers a smooth ride.

“We want to earn their trust, get them back as customers,” Pastor said.

Twenty-six Burger King locations closed earlier this year when the former franchisee, EYM King of Michigan, announced they would end operations in Michigan, the Detroit Free Press reported.
