Detroit is definitely on a fried-chicken frenzy right now. We recently ran a story on the first metro Detroit Shaq’s Big Chicken location. Now, another popular fried chicken fast-casual restaurant is also planting its flag in the metro. Yes. Raising Cane’s is bringing its popular chicken fingers to Canton Township at 44250 Ford Rd after receiving unanimous approval to move forward with construction plans at the beginning of this month.
The site, located between Sheldon and Morton Taylor roads, is currently occupied by TGI Fridays, a casual chain restaurant serving beer, cocktails, and a wide menu of American fare. The restaurant will be demolished to make way for the new Raising Cane’s location.
The new 3,700-square-foot fast-food restaurant will come with a dine-in area and a drive-through option. While concerns regarding the traffic flow in the area were present, the submitted site plans took into consideration how future plans for the Ford Road Boulevard project (currently pending city approval) will ease the traffic burden.
By the time of this coverage, no specific opening timeframe was available to be shared with the public. A representative from Raising Cane’s was not available for comments.
