Màre Mediterranean debuted in the former Cameron’s Steakhouse space at 115 Willits St in 2021. The concept was created by Detroit area restaurateur Nino Cutraro. The restaurant served steaks, pasta and other entrees alongside fresh catch of the day in an upscale dining room setting. The restaurant also offered weekly specials during happy hours, such as $2 oysters and $8 glasses of wine.

In the meantime, Kakos has filed for a new special land use permit under the company name of Birmingham Omni Hospitality LLC. According to the application, the new concept is likely called Sprazzo Mediterranean. The new concept plans to open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The only significant change to the current interior will be the removal of the pizza oven, which will then be replaced with seating booths. The new owners also plan to remove the existing wine wall to provide a better view of the streetscape to the diners. According to the restaurant’s Instagram profile, a new menu is also in the work.

While the new concept is under development, the new owners will extend Màre’s hours starting September 9, serving lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, with dinner services starting at 4 p.m.

What Now Detroit reached out to the owners but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage.
