Puppies and java beans? Yes, please. Doghouse Coffee, a popular coffeehouse concept based in Lapeer, is working on opening a second location in Metamora by the end of June. This news was first seen on MLive.
The new location is only a 15-minute drive from the concept’s successful flagship location in Lapeer. With the close distance comes consistency, as the second location will inherit everything that has made Doghouse a community favourite since its opening last year.
“Lapeer has done well. The community has supported us quite a bit. Our online sales are starting to pick up and wholesale is starting to pick up as well,” said Donald Wingard, co-owner of Doghouse Coffee told MLive. “This is a great opportunity for us and the community. There are no coffee shops anywhere close to this area, so we’re hoping to bring something cool to a cool little town and keep everyone caffeinated.”
Doghouse Coffee is owned by veteran Donald Wingard and his partner Ulyana Wingard, who was originally from L’viv, Ukraine. The upcoming location will seat approximately 30 people on the inside with additional seating on the patio with picnic tables and umbrellas. The new location also expects to have live performances.
Wingard also told MLive that they had plans to incorporate horse elements into the new location as horses are an integral part of Metamora’s village culture. What Now Detroit reached out to the owners for comments but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage. The specific address of the new location has not been announced.
