The brothers behind Detroit 75 Kitchen plan to open their first brick-and-mortar restaurant this summer at 300 W. 14 Mile Road in Troy.

Chef Mike Nassar and Ahmad began selling their brand of po’ boys, shawarmas, Detroit style cheesesteaks and Atwater chicken sandwiches in 2014. That’s when the duo launched a food truck moored at Detroit 75’s flagship location in southwest Detroit.

The critically acclaimed mobile kitchen has been named a top 3 food truck and one of the 100 best places to eat in the U.S.

Now the brothers plan to offer a full-fledged restaurant experience. Mike Nassar announced the milestone on Detroit 75’s Instagram page recently, telling followers it’s the first project in an expansion effort that could include several new locations.

“We are looking for underprivileged areas, well-deserving communities,” he said. We are definitely not looking for the shiny diamond.”

The restaurant will open in the former Sears Auto Center in the Oakland Mall, just east of Interstate 75. The tentative opening date is sometime in July, according to the post.

“It’s going to be a full-service Detroit 75 Kitchen. Exactly what you’d expect when you come down to southwest Detroit,” Mike Nassar said. “We are going to have the garden there, you can come with your family and enjoy it. There is no reason whatsoever, with a building with this rich of a history, to be closed that long. Especially in this area; it is filled with working men and women, and immigrants from around the world that deserve good food.”

Mike is a self-taught culinary master who cooks up the mouthwatering vittles while Ahmad serves as the creative mind behind the business.

“As you know, we are a family-owned and run business, and a lot of people told us our idea would never work,” the Instagram post state. Our original goal was to not only serve up great f***ing food but lift up an area in Detroit that no one thought worthwhile… and that goal is the same with this additional place.”
