Slice of Spice a long-time Laughlin staple known for wood-fired pizza, has closed. However, a new business is already in the works. The upcoming eatery, called Burkhart’s Pizza and Pub, also plans to continue the old business’ wood-fired legacy. This news was first seen on MLive.
Located at 7851 Spring Arbor Rd in Village Crossing, Slice of Spice has earned an irreplaceable position in the community over its past 13 years of dedicated services. But life goes on. According to the MLive coverage, owners Mary and Daniel Laughlin decided to announce their retirement and close down the restaurant so they could focus on traveling and spending time with their family.
However, the local community won’t be living without its favorite wood-fired pizza for too long as a new business already has plans to continue Slice of Spice’s legacy. Andy and Robin Burkhart, who previously owned Runway Party Store, plans to open Burkhart’s Pizza and Pub in the space later this summer. The pair have always loved Slice of Spice’s wood-fired pizza and dreamed of running their own restaurant. Therefore, it only seemed natural for them to combine both passions when the opportunity presented itself.
Burkhart’s will build on top of the existing Slice of Spice offerings with personal touches, including some new menu items, including a signature bourbon bacon jam burger, and installing televisions. The Burkharts expects to open the new restaurant during the second week of May.
