Seasoned restauranteur Arnulfo Ramirez is working on a new breakfast restaurant called The Morning Post on the northwest corner of Grand River Avenue and Hagadorn in the old Punk Taco space at 1351 E Grand River Ave. There appears to be a pending Class C liquor license application awaiting intake review with the state. The new restaurant is planned to open in the first half of 2024.

The space has been popular among restauranteurs as a speakeasy called The Goat on Grand River also initially planned to take over the space. We later reported the business was seeking a different location for the establishment. Now, it looks like the vacant space will be put to good use, after all, with another promising restauranteur joining the plaza.

Ramirez is the mastermind behind several Mexican restaurant concepts. Earlier last year, we also reported Ramirez’s plan to replace Black Cat Bistro with a Los Tres Mexican grill restaurant. The Morning Post, however, will be slightly different compared to Ramirez’s other concepts.

“The Morning Post is a modern take on traditional breakfast with the ability to have a morning cocktail,” Lina Cortes, Ramirez’s office manager for Los Tres Amigos – Brookfield, LLC, said in an email. The restaurant’s menu will include classic breakfast items like biscuits and gravy and breakfast omelets, and everyone’s favorite morning cocktail, such as Bloody Mary.

Ramirez also plans to put a completely different concept, called D’Nulffos Seafood & Chophouse, right next door.
