Old Burdick’s on the ground floor of the Radisson hotel at 100 W. Michigan Ave in downtown Kalamazoo will close on December 21 for a full-on reimagination. Kalmazoo-based Greenleaf Hospitality Group is adding the restaurant to its project pipeline on the heel of their Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites renovation. Old Burdick’s first opened in 1991 with a menu featuring traditional pub food and a full beer, wine and cocktail menu.
Plans for Old Burdick’s included new menus, reconfigured seating for higher capacity and larger parties, kitchen expansion, new private dining room construction, an event space and a duckpin bowling alley. The restaurant is anticipated to reopen in September 2025 with new customer engagement programs. According to Crain’s, the event center is expected to host nearly 240 events, concerts and sporting events yearly, including hockey and basketball games.”
“It’s been a great brand for us,” Tim Rayman, CEO of Kalamazoo-based Greenleaf Hospitality Group, told Crain’s Grand Rapids. “The opportunity (to) reimagine that space and be able to create a new, high- level sports bar for the community is going to be really cool.”
Kalamazoo-based CMS Group will partner with Greenleaf Hospitality Group to spearhead the renovation. In addition to Old Burdick’s, the Radisson will also include a yet-to-be-named lobby bar with an opening timeframe aligned with Burdick’s project timeline.
“(We’re) super excited for all the changes in the downtown landscape in the upcoming years,” Rayman told Crain’s. “I think this renovation is going to be in good time to be able to really accommodate that influx of guests that are going to be eager to be downtown again. To be able to modernize it and refresh the look is going to be really great.”
