Public records show that Popoff Investments III LLC purchased the property at 840 S State in July, and the new owners have cleared out the establishment in preparation for renovations. According to MLive, the new owners hope to open i February or March of 2025 if everything goes as planned.

“We’re looking to rehab the building, and we’re going to make some changes to it, you know, clean it up, bring it up to date and make it a nice destination location for Davison and, obviously, surrounding communities,” Hester told MLive.

Popoff and Hester are no freshmen in the restaurant industry. The pair also owns Starlite Diner & Coney Island in Burton, as well as The Vault in Downtown Fenton. The new restaurant, planned as a bar and grill, will highlight some chef-driven dishes.

“It’s just going to be very well executed food, not the typical frozen cheese sticks and stuff like that,” Hester told MLive. “It’s going to be more scratch made. We’re just getting into the whole project, and we’re looking forward to assimilating into the community and being another good option in this area. We definitely want to draw from all of Genesee County.”

What Now Detroit reached out to the owners but hadn’t heard back by the time of this coverage. A name for the new restaurant is not currently available.
