Fixins at 1435 Randolph Street, in the Paradise Valley area, is expected to open in December, The Detroit News reported. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan joined a press conference that was held to announce the news.

The restaurant is owned by Kevin Johnson, a former NBA player and the former mayor of Sacramento, and his wife, Michelle. The Fixins menu is driven by authentic soul food like chicken and waffles, oxtails, charred okra and peach cobbler – southern eats inspired by family recipes Johnson grew up with.

Fixins currently has locations in Sacramento, Los Angeles and Tulsa. Additional outposts are in the works for Denver and recently announced Oakland.

The space where Fixins will be opening in Detroit was formerly occupied by Detroit Seafood Market. According to D Business Magazine, the restaurant will be 8,400 square feet with 325 seats.
